Baby showers are one of my favorite celebrations to do and this one my mom and I did for my sis-in-law was no exception. It is really fun to have the shower reflect the personality of the guest of honor. In this case we are talking about a kind, gentle, very natural mother and human being. She loves nature and everything natural so it was a no brainer to go with a simple rustic sort of wildflower theme and burlap and lace were the perfect choices!
I saved jars for a few weeks and wrapped them in a band of burlap, printed scrapbook paper, and finished them off with a twine bow.
I’m not gonna lie. I like going to events because it means I get to step away from the hum-drum food I have at my own house.
Our guest of honor is a vegetarian so we thought it would be nice for her to be able to eat everything on the buffet for once. Us meat eaters often think that means no flavor…WRONG! We came up with some pretty yummy options.
Recipe at Annie’s Eats
I modified this recipe to make these tostada bites vegetarian friendly.
We picked up already made flat breads from our local specialty market and came up with some different veggie combos. Here are the combos we did, but the possibilities are endless.
Blue Cheese and Roasted Red Pepper
Tomato, Basil, and Mozzarella
Roasted Zucchini, Yellow Squash, Artichoke Hearts, and Pesto with Mozzarella
Veggies cut into strips so that they can be picked up, dipped, and eaten.
The food was tasty, light, and perfect for a “happy hour” time of day.
Oh and we can’t forget the best part! DESSERT!
I picked up these mini desserts at Costco and added a squirt of chocolate frosting and a raspberry to each of the brownie bites. Don’t you feel less guilty having 2 or 3 small desserts rather than a slice of cake. Why is that? Who knows, but that is what makes these so perfect!
So…baby shower…check! Now we are officially ready to meet our newest member!
